Transportation in Makati Philippines

The Buses plying the Epifanio De los Santos Avenue (EDSA) route from Baclaran in Paranaque to Quezon City and Caloocan City pass through the Central Business District daily. Jeepneys ply Makati's inner roads, and connect the city to its surrounding towns and cities. The Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) on EDSA has four stations located in Makati: Guadalupe, Buendia, Ayala and Magallanes.

Jeepneys
Regular rate – minimum fare or first 4 kilometers is Php8.50 and an additional Php0.50 for every succeeding kilometer.

Discounted rate (students, elderly & disabled) – minimum fare is P7.00 and an additional Php1.00 for every succeeding kilometer.

Buses
Regular rate – minimum fare (1st 5 km.) is PhP11.00 and an additional Php2.00 for every succeeding kilometer.

Discounted rate (students, elderly & disabled) – minimum fare is Php9.00 and an additional Php1.50 for every succeeding kilometer.


Taxi
Air-conditioned taxis - Php30.00 on the meter and an additional PhP2.50 for every succeeding 200 meters. Required to add P10.

Metro Rail Transit (MRT)
MRT (Metro Rail Transit) is another way of navigating the traffic congested EDSA, also called MetroStar, it is built along the length of EDSA from North Triangle in Quezon City to Taft Avenue in Pasay City in the south. The stops include Ayala, from where it's a ten-minute walk to the central business district passing through the newly renovated SM Makati which is interconnected with Glorietta and Landmark and using the overhead walkway, it is a pleasant walk until you reach the new and exciting Greenbelt area.

MRT fares start from P15.00. A travel from North Triangle, Quezon City to Makati is just about twenty minutes. By bus the same journey could easily take an hour, sometimes more especially during rush hours.

Pedicab or Tricycle
Pedicabs and motorcycles with attached sidecars are found everywhere and provide amazingly inexpensive short hops they operate mostly on interior roads and inside villages. Rate starts from Php10.00.

Other Modes of Transport
Most of the major car rental agencies, including AVIS, Budget, and Hertz have offices in Makati City and carry a full line of vehicles from jeeps to limousines.

All vehicles may be rented with or without a driver. If you wish to do your own driving you must have a valid foreign or international license.
